Nashville Diaries - Day Three, Robert's, Jack's Bar-b-que, Chik-fil-a

While walking down Broadway, Sarah heard a familiar voice coming out of Robert's doorway. "Hang on," she said, "I want to see if my friend Rachael is playing." It was shortly before 2:00pm...and THAT right there is the beauty of Nashville. There is beautiful music to be found anywhere at any time of day. I learned this very quickly!

We popped inside, and sure enough, Rachael (Hester) was there. I instantly fell in love with the big booming voice coming out of this tiny person, not to mention that her guitarist looked amazingly like he belonged on my father's side of the family tree - to the point where it made me wonder if there was an uncle that I do not know about!

Rachael closed her set with her rendition of They Call the Wind Mariah - which instantly brought tears to my eyes, since it's a song that my Dad used to sing around the house when I was a little bit of a thing.

Earlier, I had made Sarah promise to take me to a barbeque joint, while I was in the South. We invited Rachael to join us, and headed next door to Jack's Bar-b-que.

After a long wait, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with apples and coleslaw. It was DIVINE.

When lunch was over, we parted ways with Rachael and spent the rest of our afternoon poking around the shops on Broadway. We hopped into Sarah's car just as it began to pour rain. After a brief rest at home, we ventured out for the evening and had another healthful meal of Chik-fil-a.

Now...I'm not much of a fast food fan. I rarely eat it. But, Chik-fil-a is my Southern guilty pleasure.  (NOTE TO FRIENDS: This meal was eaten pre-Chik-fil-a uproar). I hadn't ordered a meal there since Christmas of 2008 when I was in Baltimore. Holy gee did this taste delicious!
