Dirty Thirty: A Birthday Menu

Yesterday was my thirtieth birthday. This year, my birthday happened to coincide with my first full day in a new rental home. Needless to say - simplicity had to reign during this year's celebrations!

My friend, CJ, commented that my tablescape looked like a "hipster album cover." I took that as a compliment.

The menu was simple and fresh, based on some old and new favorites. The manner in which the salmon is prepared is a favorite childhood recipe that my mother has handed down to me. NOM NOM NOM!

Dirty Thirtieth Birthday Menu

Main Course

Grilled Salmon Marinated with Mustard and Mint

Mustard Mint Marinade: For one pound of salmon combine 1/4 cup of olive oil, 2 tsp dijon mustard, 4 mint leaves sliced thin, 1 garlic clove minced fine, 1/4 inch of ginger minced fine. Marinade for at least 1/2 hour.

Zucchini and Summer Squash

Rice Pilaf

with Scagliola Petali di Rose 2011, a sparkling red, my new FAVORITE wine and
Red Hook Brewery's Wit and Copperhook

Dessert

I think this new decade is off to a lovely start!
