So my sister convinced me to run a second 5K! We hit the road around 6:30AM - it wasn't even light out...
The obligatory pre-race photo. My beautiful nephew Oskar aka The Dude, my sissy and me.
Crossing the finish line - with YET ANOTHER heinous running face. What's up with that? I even smiled directly at my brother-in-law and waved and this is the image that he captures. Sigh.
Oh - and here is the ridiculous breakfast that I mowed down after the race. Apparently I was craving vast amounts of protein...and fat. Vegetables were uncharacteristically underrepresented on my plate.
I found this race to be considerably harder than the last. I've been running very inconsistently since the arrival of the holidays and the cold weather. There were plenty of hills and the roads were slick with ice. I soldiered through - but I was a bit displeased with how difficult this 5K was for me.
Despite that - it was REALLY nice to be outside running. I had previously decided that I would pick up running again in the springtime, but instead, I think it's time to check off #22 on my 29 before 30 list and invest in some Yaktrax so I can get back out on the road on a regular basis.
