Smoothie Challenge Update #1/5K Early Morning Madness

I slept with wet hair, and this is what happens. I will never, never learn.

Anyways, update on the smoothie challenge. It's going well! I cheated on one day, I tend to want a big girl breakfast on Sundays, when I have the leisure to actually cook something, but I substituted the smoothie for one of my meals later in the day.

Interestingly enough, I'm finding that I do not *want* my coffee in the morning when I drink a smoothie. I feel pretty energized...to a POINT. By mid-morning my body goes into shut down mode if I don't pump it full of caffeine. Just an interesting observation.

I'm on the second recipe that I've tried. This one is considerably more yummy, but it is filled with considerably more delicious things. This time from Everyday Food's January 2012 issue I'm drinking the Avocado Banana smoothie, with avocado, banana, non-fat greek yogurt, honey, orange juice and ice. NOM!

In other news I'm running my second 5K today with my sister. I'm feeling considerably unprepared this time around, since I have not been running much. Also there's the fact that it's an hour and a half north in the hinterlands, and it's going to be 22 degrees. But no matter - it'll be fun. Ren's bringing me an iPod with my personal running anthem on it...how could this not be fun?
