Feelin' Fancy

A few weeks ago, before I lost my camera battery, I took pictures of the ensemble that I put together to attend my niece, Cayla's wedding. I felt very fancy indeed!

Step one to feelin' fancy...don a sparkly, handmade fascinator!

Step Two...Immediately laugh at the staying power of your hair a la Flock of Seagulls...

Step Three...Wear a fancy party dress.

Step Three and a half...By the way...Did you see my party dress?

Here's where I blog about a box of mac n' cheese, and what that has to do with divorce

Back in May, when I returned to blogging after a nearly six month hiatus, I briefly described how my life pretty much came to a screeching halt when THE BREAK UP happened. One of the ways that I coped was by avoiding any and all things that interested me - including cooking. Cooking for one, after years of cooking for two, seemed a depressing activity that just amplified the "HEY, YOU'RE ALONE!" factor.

Early on, I bought a case of Annie's mac n' cheese, and ate that for dinner literally for more nights in a row than I could count.

Tonight - I made the last box from that case.

The End of an Era

I made that box mac n' cheese tonight, not to cope, but out of financial necessity. I made that box mac n' cheese tonight dreaming of pay day tomorrow, and the subsequent fantastical grocery trip that will soon follow. I made that box mac n' cheese tonight, thinking how I can't wait to try some of the recipes from the new cook books that seem to keep following me home from Barnes and Noble.

I made that box mac n' cheese tonight and was reminded that I've come a LONG way, baby.

Tonight, I was reminded that I am AWESOME, and that every day is another opportunity to rock this world with my EPIC AWESOMENESS.

Tonight's little mac n' cheese dinner was the end of an era - and you know what? I couldn't be happier.
