I don't know s#%t about beer: Opa Opa Oktoberfest

In continuing my "I don't know s#%t series" I turn to the subject of beer tasting. Visit Beer Advocate for a novice's guide to tasting beer.

The beer: Opa Opa Oktoberfest
Price: $6.95 for a 1/2 gallon growler
Brewery location: Southampton, Massachusetts, USA

Observations: Opa Opa's Oktoberfest is a dark amber, medium bodied beer. Oktoberfest has no head present when poured from the growler, (a pint from a tap might be a different matter, who knows). The initial pleasant floral smell is just a prequel to a much earthier taste, which packs some weight without feeling too heavy. The finish is as crisp as a New England fall day - NOM!

Pair with: CHEESE! This is a beer that begs to wash down a hamburger or some pizza. I sipped it with a dinner of a sage/apple/Gruyere grilled cheese and thick potato chips.

Star Rating: 4 out of 5

Purchase again? YES

Ok - so from one I don't know s#%t to another - what is a half gallon growler?

We love a good beer around here. Have you ever tried San Miguel Dark? Our absolute favorite. made in the Phillipines and sometimes hard to find but sooooo good.
