The problem with seasonal decorating is that some amount of preparation must go in to it. For me, decorations are objects that must be curated over time, carefully chosen to come out of hiding year after year for repeat appearances in one's home. This requires a little more effort and thought than strolling down to Wal*mart and buying a holiday in a box. Does this sentiment make me sentimental or just mental? Hmm...
Anyways...I digress. I am trying to get better about this whole preparation thing. A few weeks ago I saw this adorable flag tutorial on Saltwater Kids, and I just knew that this banner had to be mine!

I did not spend a penny on this project - isn't that the best?! The yarn and the embroidery floss were in my stash. The stripey fabric was cut from an upholstery sample that an old employer gave to me. In lieu of denim, I replaced the blue fabric with wool cut from an old blazer.

I think it's quite handsome!

What about you? Seasonal decorating year round, YAY or NAY?

Your flags are darling!
love the flags.Any extra? I have a wreath that needs just a little more deco.
"Holiday in a Box"! I love that description! And as your friend/surrogate crafty momma I am thrilled to see you finding your very own ways to celebrate and decorate!
Your flags are beautiful! And they look great displayed against that awesome window frame.
Makes a momma proud!
What a cute bunting! Mom will be so happy to see she's made a convert to seasonal decorating! Especially since I'm so lame in that area... I can barely keep us and the cat functioning this year, let alone pay attention to decor. :-/
that's an awesome idea! I'm from Canada and we're celebrating Canada Day a few days before July 4th - has inspired me to create a bunting with maple leafs instead. Thanks for sharing!
