Eye Spy...a rediscovery

This weeks "Eye Spy" theme was provided by The Byron Life. Play along weekly over at Bug and Pop

This week's Eye Spy theme happily coincided with my first ever Naked Lady Party! If you've never heard of a NLP, here are the basics:

1. Ask your friends to clean out their closets and invite them over.
2. Sort the clothing into categories; shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, etc.
3. Dive in and search for new clothes.
4. Donate the leftovers.
5. Oh yeah, and appetizers and bevvies help too!

Having an NLP is great for so many reasons; The economy has tanked, but you can get new cute clothes for free, NLPs keep clothing out of a landfill and this is a great motivator to clean house for the change in season. Not to mention it's pretty fun!

My tiny living room was FULL of clothes - you literally had to dive in to piles to pick stuff out...(my photos came out funky because my camera was on a weird setting unbeknownst to me)...

Clothing madness!

This is my "Eddy" outfit a la Absolutely Fabulous. The denim mini vest was definitely the star of the evening.

Jess made out like a bandit

Jess made out like a bandit. That mini skirt has BUILT IN SHORTS! Man I wish I was a size 8 - so cute!

Off to Goodwill later this week

Here are the leftovers, which will be heading off to Goodwill later this week. I can't believe how much clothing is packed into those boxes!

Here are some of my favorite "rediscoveries."

Cute ruffly brown shirt and JEANS THAT FIT aka Unicorn aka Mythical Creature that I did not think existed...

NLP Favorites :: Cute Shirt and JEANS THAT FIT!

Awesome plaid high waisted secretary skirt and knee high boots

NLP Favorites :: Plaid Skirt and Boots

And the "boobylicious" dress

NLP Favorites ::Boobylicious Dress

The dress is a little over the top in the cleavage department, but it was so silky and swingy and pretty I couldn't resist. If I'm feeling demure I think I might wear this with a lacy slip underneath that covers up the girls a bit, or if I'm feeling bold I might rock it out with a big necklace to distract from the "fanny front" as my sister calls it.

Have I convinced you to have a Naked Lady Party yet? Go on! Re-discover what is hiding in your friends closets!

Eat, Sleep, Breathe, Drive, Dance, Drive, Physical Therapy, Repeat.

Well hello, remember me? My name is Sarah, and once upon a time I used to be a blogger!

I've been CRAZY-tastic busy. The title of this post says it all. Eat, Sleep, Breathe, Drive, Dance, Drive, Physical Therapy, Repeat. That has been my whole life lately. Which is okay, minus the zero crafty bloggy time.

Alas, I have nothing crafty to share today, but I have physical therapy photos...

Ladies and gents, I present, the ROBO-BAND-AID!

Ladies and Gents, I present the Robo-band-aid

This thing is the craziest thing that I've ever seen. My shoulder was really bothering me the other day in therapy. Before my physical therapist sent me off for the day she slapped this band-aid on. She applied a pain relieving drug to the bandage, which then had to be charged up. Yup, that's a battery that you see in the picture. As soon as the band-aid was charged opposing magnets within the bandage pulled the medicine down into my skin where it provided relief for about four hours.

Where can I get a stack of these to put all over my body when I perform?!?! Technological awesomeness I tell you!

In dancing news, I've put together an e-newsletter to keep people posted of my dancing adventures. If you'd like to subscribe to future issues of this newsletter, send me an e-mail.

Cheers for now - tomorrow I'm training at BB for CityDance and interviewing for a part-time admin position. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Eye Spy...some one that made me laugh, RIP Erica

Yesterday I found out that a dance friend of mine from college, Erica, passed away on Saturday morning.

Erica, on the right

RIP Erica

Erica was sassy and hilarious. She could make faces during rehearsals that would send me over the edge giggling. She was incredibly fun to be around because she was always so happy. She was just one of those people that radiated goodness.

Erica, back row, far right. Me, far right.

RIP Erica

Which is why when she was diagnosed with leukemia shortly after we graduated that I had no doubt that she would beat it. I never considered that death was a possibility for some one so young, so full of positivity and so full of life.

Sadly I was wrong.

The last time that I saw her was at our friends' wedding a few years back. She was glowing. Bald and thin, but glowing. Her doctors thought that she was on the mend, and I was so happy for her.

We lost touch after that. It's a sad thing to lose touch with a friend, but it's an unfortunate fact of life. I was just thinking about her a couple of weeks ago, wondering how she was. Yesterday I found out through friends that just last week she was told that the cancer had spread to her liver. It was a matter of days after that. She passed away in her sleep on Saturday after a nice day at the hospital surrounded by her family. It was a peaceful end, and she was not in pain. I suppose that is the most that one could have hoped for.

I wish that I had been better about keeping touch, but there is nothing to be done about that now. I was lucky to have her in my life for a brief time, and I will always be grateful for that. She will be missed.

Good bye to the Divine Ms. Miller, I hope that you're dancing wherever you are!

RIP Erica

Here's something else that makes me happy...

I love it when friends come over with treasures from their mother's closets and say: "My mom was cleaning, we thought this was so you."

New to me vintage dress

Why yes, it is so me! Thank you, Allison (and Allison's mom).

The dress is vintage and handmade. It reminds me a bit of late 60's early 70's Pucci. I love the fabric! It's so Yellow Submarine-ish. I think that I'm going to shorten the hem to knee-length. I also think that a white patent leather belt is in order...and maybe some giant white sunglasses as well.

What do you think?

Eye Spy...Something that makes me happy

This week's theme by Iris+Lily

Eye Spy...Something that makes me happy

I've been working at BB for awhile now, but when I attended the performance of "Black and White" a few weeks ago I was greeted with a fun surprise...

Eye Spy...Something that makes me happy

I found my name on the staff list in the playbill. My first official appearance in a real playbill :)

Eye Spy...Something that makes me happy

Never did I ever think that my name, Boston Ballet and the word "staff" would ever appear together in the same sentence. I get such a kick out of seeing it in print!
